Striker Andriy Voronin arrived on a free from Bayer Leverkusen in July 2007.
The Ukrainian, who sports a distinctive ponytail, spent the previous 12 years plying his trade in German football.
He began his professional career aged 15 after Borussia Moenchengladbach spotted him playing for his country's under-16s.
In 2000, the player nicknamed The Raven moved to FSV Mainz, where his form helped earn an international debut against Romania in March 2002.
Voronin's most prolific season came in 2002-03 when he scored 20 goals, prompting a move to FC Cologne. However, he spent just a year at his new club before Leverkusen swooped.
In March 2005 the striker featured in the Bundesliga side's 6-2 aggregate defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League.
Voronin, who appeared in the 2006 World Cup, left the BayArena with a record of 21 goals in 71 league games.
He made his Liverpool debut as a substitute against Aston Villa on August 11, 2007. Four days later he netted a 25-yard corker against Toulouse in a Champions League qualifier.
The forward tallied six goals in an injury-hit first season on Merseyside.
